- Is Darts Night Scorer free?
- Yes, completely free. No subscription, no in-app purchases. An optional free account lets you save stats and history to the cloud.
- Do I need to download anything?
- No. It runs entirely in your browser. You can also install it as a PWA from your phone's browser for a full-screen experience on iOS and Android.
- Can I play online with a friend on a different device?
- Yes. The host creates a room, shares the 6-letter code. Guest joins instantly. Scores sync in real time. No account needed for either player.
- What game modes are supported?
- X01 (301, 401, 501, 601, 1001 — double out or straight out, best of 1/3/5/7 legs), Cricket (15–20 and Bull), and Around the Clock (1–20 in order).
- What is the voice commentary?
- A British AI announcer calls every dart in real time. The delivery is style-matched: epic for 180s and game shots, excited for treble 20s and bulls, subdued for misses and busts. Powered by Murf.ai with Web Speech API as fallback.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes. Fully mobile-optimised. Works in any smartphone browser and can be installed as a PWA for a full-screen app-like experience.
- What is the beer tracker?
- Tap the beer icon next to a player's name to log a sip. The commentator reacts with increasing enthusiasm. A drinking champion is crowned at the end of the match.
- Do I need an account?
- No account is needed to play. Create a free account to save match history and stats to the cloud and access them from any device.
- What is a 180 in darts?
- A 180 is the maximum possible score from three darts: three treble 20s, each scoring 60 points. It is the highest single-turn score in X01 and is greeted by the commentator with the loudest, most dramatic call in the game.
- What does double out mean?
- In double out (the standard X01 finish rule), a player must reduce their score to exactly zero by hitting a double with their final dart. Finishing on a double bull (50 points) also counts. If the remaining score would go below zero or land on 1 after the final dart, the turn is a bust and the score is restored.
- What is Cricket darts?
- Cricket is a darts game mode where players compete to close the numbers 15 through 20 and the bullseye. A number is closed when you have hit it three times (singles count once, doubles twice, triples three times). Once you have closed a number, any further hits on it score you points — until your opponent closes it too. The winner is the first player to close all seven numbers while having equal or more total points.
- Can more than two players play?
- Yes. Local play supports any number of players — just add names before the game starts. Online multiplayer currently supports two players on separate devices. All game modes (X01, Cricket and Around the Clock) work with multiple local players.
- Does the app work offline?
- The scoring interface works offline once the page has loaded. Live AI voice commentary requires an internet connection to reach the Murf.ai API. If offline, the app falls back to the Web Speech API, which works locally in most browsers.
- How do the checkout suggestions work?
- In X01, when a player's remaining score is between 2 and 170 and finishable, the app automatically displays a recommended checkout route — for example, treble 20, treble 20 and double 12 for a 132 finish. Suggestions cover all standard two- and three-dart finishes.
